HAPPY SUNDAY!!! Dedicated to: "The Platinum Sista's"
I have Always been Very Proud of Legacy I was Born into... But with the Recent Passing of My Aunt Yvonne Beatty... I am Really Thankful for the Strong, GOD-Loving, Spirit-filled, Intelligent & Talented Women that My Mom and her Sisters came to be!
Three PK's (Preacher's Kids) A Strong Baptist (Aunt Yvonne), A Dedicated CME (My Mom Jessie-K) and a Loyal AME (Aunt Felisa)... All have been Active Members of their said Churches for over 65yrs... and because of My Grandmother - Sis Exie C Taylor being an Accomplished Musician that could not only Play almost every Instrument, but was Good at All, Yet focused on the Piano/Organ... they too have lo Several Decades with the Music Departments of their Individual Churches: Yvonne as a Choir Member, Jessie-K as a Director/Minister of Music and at 86 still a member of her Choir @ Phillips Temple CME in Berkeley and Aunt Felisa was the Pianist/Organist/Minister of Music of her Church almost up and until her passing in 2010.
This Musical Legacy Is and Shall Carry on through there Children, Grandchildren, Greats and So on and So On! (Not, through Me though, I am an Artist of the Pencil, Pen, Brush & Canvas) LOL!
Though I am Very Sad for the Loss of My Aunt Yvonne and Still Miss My Aunt Felisa and Cry for My Mom being the Last One Standing... It Is a Happy Day because I Know that the LOrd is in Chaarge and... "It Is Well, It Is Well... With My Soul!"
"Weeping May Endure for a Night, Joy Cometh in the Morning" ~Psalm 30:5
Thank You for Listening, Pray for Me as I am Praying for You! Have a BLESSED Week and Be a BLESSING to Others!!! ~jOY!!!

"In LOving Memory Of My Aunt" Sunset - August 14, 2014

"In LOving Memory Of My Aunt" Sunset - August 14, 2014
Yvonne F Beatty Born Yvonne Frances Taylor to Methodist Pastor/Professor - Rev Dr Samuel S Taylor and Pianist/School Teacher/Seamstress - Exie Carter Taylor in Louisiana, after the birth of her Twin Brothers Marshall & Monroe. Later the Family migrated to Little, Rock Arkansas and lived on the Campus of Philander-Smith College for a time while My Grandfather was on staff there. My Mom Jessie-Katherine was born there (and Graduated from that same College 20 yrs later). Three years later, Felisa Jane the last edition to the Taylor Family was born.
All the Children later went on to Graduate from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. Upon, 16yr old Yvonne's Graduation her brother Marshall was able to talk their Dad into allowing him to allow young Yvonne into accompanying him to Seattle, Washington where the Government was soliciting workers for Boeing just before WWII.
Once there, Marshall realized how much he missed his Childhood sweetheart - Clara Jean and made a quick turnaround trip to go back to Little Rock to Marry her and bring her to Seattle.
Once back with New wife in tote, brother Marshall decided he Needed to find his sister Yvonne a Husband, for she and Clara were thick as thieves... so most times it was two against one. So, through the Merchant Marines he found Cecil Beatty... and long story short, they later Married and at the time of her passing My Auntie Yvonne & Uncle Cecil had been Married for over 70 yrs.
Though Auntie Yvonne had Many adopted Children/Grandchildren, she only gave Birth to Two Daughters - Pamela-Grace & Phyllis Catherine (Yasutake). Phyllis has 6 children, and four of her children at least have one child each.
Until she was Diagnosed with MS (decades ago) Yvonne Beatty worked for the Federal Government. For Many Years she was an Active Member of the NAACP and for Over 65 yrs She was a Member of Mt Zion Baptist Church of Seattle, Washington. She Handcrafted and sold Beautiful Ethnic Dolls for Many years. In her Senior Years she became quite the Extraordinaire in Bingo and was usually Very Lucky! ;-)
My Aunt was a Courageous Soldier! After being diagnosed with MS she Never Missed a Beat! She LOved Socializing, Entertaining, and Cooking; Among her Many Greats she made a Mean Pot of Gumbo and the Sweetest Peach Cobbler. Like My Mom She LOved the Children - Grands, GreatGrands, Nieces, Nephews, Hers, Yours and Everybody else's!
I Know Her Passing has left a whole Not Only in My Family, but in her Entire Community of Washington... through out her Life She Helped, Supported and Touched Many... and Even in her Last Days She was Never a Victim and Never Complained. She has been a True Inspiration to Many of Us. My Heart Absolutely Breaks for Her Husband, Children, Grand/GreatGrand Children, My Aunt Clara and My Mom. However, I will Sing for Joy that Our Savior Called her Home and No More Pain!!!
In the Passing of My Aunt Yvonne, My Mom - Sis Jessie K Wilson is the Last of the Original Taylor-Carter Family, So Please Continue to Pray for Her.
Taylor/Carter Family:
Dad: Rev Dr Samuel Shinkle Taylor - D/C 1956
Mom: Sis Exie Carter Taylor - D/C 1986
Son: Marshall Taylor - DC 1956
Son: (James) Monroe Taylor - D/C 1988
Daughter: Felisa Jane Hundley - D/C 2010
Daughter: Yvonne Frances Beatty - D/C 2014
May All Continue to Rest In the Awesome Power Of Peace!!!
Oh, and by the way, I know what year My Auntie was Born, but she always told me a Lady Never tells... So I'm Not Telling!!!

Lauren Bacall (Sep 16, 1924 ~ Aug 12, 2014)

"...You Just put Your Lips Together and Blow."

"...You Just put Your Lips Together and Blow."
~ Lauren Bacall (Sep 16, 1924 ~ Aug 12, 2014)
On How to Whistle... this Great line Spoken by Ms Bacall was taken from her first Movie with Humphrey Bogart - "To Have and Have Not "
Bogart met Lauren Bacall while filming To Have and Have Not (1944), a loose adaptation of the Ernest Hemingway novel. The movie has many similarities with Casablanca—the same enemies, the same kind of hero, even a piano player sidekick (this time Hoagy Carmichael). When they met, Bacall was 19 and Bogart was 44. He nicknamed her "Baby." She had been a model since she was 16 and had acted in two failed plays. Bogart was drawn to Bacall's high cheekbones, green eyes, tawny blond hair, and lean body, as well as her poise and earthy, outspoken honesty. Reportedly he said, "I just saw your test. We'll have a lot of fun together". Their physical and emotional rapport was very strong from the start, and the age difference and different acting experience also created the additional dimension of a mentor-student relationship. Quite contrary to the Hollywood norm, it was his first affair with a leading lady. Bogart was still miserably married and his early meetings with Bacall were discreet and brief, their separations bridged by ardent love letters.
Bogart filed for divorce from Methot in February 1945. He and Bacall married in a small ceremony at the country home of Bogart's close friend, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Louis Bromfield, at Malabar Farm near Lucas, Ohio, on May 21, 1945.
Bogart and Bacall moved into a $160,000 (equal to $2,095,970 today) white brick mansion in an exclusive neighborhood in Holmby Hills. The marriage proved to be a happy one, though there were the normal tensions due to their differences. He was a homebody and she liked nightlife; he loved the sea, which made her seasick. Bogart's drinking sometimes inflamed tensions.
Bogart became a father at age 49 when Bacall gave birth to Stephen (Steve) Humphrey Bogart on January 6, 1949, during the filming of Tokyo Joe. Bogart told Tokyo Joe's screenwriter, Steve Fisher, "Don't get any stupid ideas. It just happens to fit." Stephen was actually named after Bogart's character's nickname in To Have and Have Not. Stephen would go on to become an author and biographer, later hosting a television special about his father on Turner Classic Movies. Their daughter, Leslie Howard Bogart, was born on August 23, 1952, and named after British actor Leslie Howard, his co-star in The Petrified Forest.
Humphrey Bogart, a heavy smoker and drinker, developed cancer of the esophagus in 1956. He had just turned 57 and weighed 80 pounds (36 kg) when he died on January 14, 1957, after falling into a coma. He died at his home at 232 South Mapleton Drive in Holmby Hills, California.
Bogart's cremated remains were interred in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Glendale, California. He was buried with a small, gold whistle once part of a charm bracelet he had given to Lauren Bacall before they married. It was inscribed with an allusion to a quote from their first movie together where Bacall said: "You know how to whistle don't you Steve? You just put your lips together and blow". The inscription read: "If you want anything, just whistle."
