"I worked very closely with Dr King during the Civil Rights Movement. He requested that I serve as Northern Coordinator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. When the Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr. was Assassinated on my 40th Birthday, I was devastated! Under the guidance of my friend, Novelist James Baldwin, I found solace in writing, and began work on the book that would become I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings."... Maya Angelou

The book tells the story of her life from her childhood in Arkansas to the birth of her child. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings was published in 1970 to widespread critical acclaim and enormous popular success.
If We Allow HIM to, GOD will Always Shine a Light at the end of the tunnel of Our Darkest Days to Guide Us Through... Thank You JESUS!!!
GOD BLESS Ms Angelou on this and Every Day...The Legacy of the Rev Dr Martin Luther King Is Bigger than the Day He was Gunned down... May His Soul Continue to Rest In the POWER Of PEACE!!!
